Cambodia: The Temples of Angkor

Good Morning, Siam Reap!

Today we visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor, the world's largest religious site, so this is going to be a picture heavy post!
Since we only had one day we did only three of the many temples. Angkor Thom city was first.

Gods on the left

On the way to Bayon Temple we stopped to feed monkeys with lotus fruits we bought yesterday only to realize they are way better than we are at pealing them.

Workers busy restoring Bayon Temple
The people who lived in the area before it became a UNESCO World Heritage site were allowed to stay, so you see lots of kids everywhere.

Second up was the temple made famous by the film "Tomb Raider" which is overgrown by trees.

Then we were off to lunch, had Amok, the national Cambodian dish again and the took a nap in one of the restaurant's hammocks.

Last, but of course not least Angkor Wat itself (pictures are on my DLR camera only so you'll have to wait for those).
Lots of sweating involved since the temples are in the middle of the jungle so you can imagine the heat and humidity. But as Rafa put it: all the sweating is really good for our bodies. So we did our bodies good today.
After returning to the hotel and a few hours of napping we walked back into town for dinner followed by a foot massage. 30 mins for 3$. We will do this more often, it felt sooo good.
