We opted for the healthy American breakfast option of McDonald's/Subway followed by Krispy Kreme and then Starbucks for coffee. :)
Luckily Air Aisa, supposedly the Asian Ryan Air turned out to be fine and between a quick power nap, filling in three different forms for immigration and enjoying the view we landed in Cambodia in no time.
Upon leaving the plane we received a 4th form so we ended up at a table outside the arrivals hall filling in a health form, then on to the line for the visa. Process as follows: Hand documents to one guy who checks forms and takes 20$ for the visa, 2$ extra if you don't have a photo for the visa and they need to scan your passport photo, walk down three counters where your passport will eventually get as well after being passed from the first guy to several other people. Last but not least the lady who held up each passport for collection, not saying a word since she was busy with her iPhone, headphones in ears. Best job ever. :) Then on to immigration, baggege claimd and customs and we were finally in Cambodia.
The taxi stand listed a price of 7$ for a taxi into down, same price I had read about in the Lonely Planet, so no need for bargaining this time and in no time we had a taxi and a friendly driver who doubled as a tour guide. He suggested driving out to a floating village and doing the temples of Angkor tomorrow, for 30$ he'd be our driver for the day.
After dropping off our luggage at the guesthouse we were off to our first Cambodian adventure. Drove out to the boat pier and had a private boat which took us to the floating village of Chong Knea. I felt like someone had beamed me into a parallel universe.
After a two hour tour and water from a fresh coconut the driver took us back to Siem Reap to see the downtown area. We had Amok, one of the local dishes which was delicious.

The plan of driving up to a mountain for sunset to get a first view of Angkor Wat were canceled due to the torrential downpour that followed. We were exhausted anyway so we really didn't mind though. :)
